The statement of intent is a document that you need to write detailing some aspects of your production, like how you intent to use media language to target your audience and the type of representations you will use to appeal to your target audience.

The two questions you need to answer are:

Outline your plans for your production including:

 How you intend to use Media Language to target your intended audience
 How you intend to use Media Representations that are appropriate to your intended audience

Media Language for Print:

  • Colour - denotation/connotation.
  • Typography - size, type of font (serif/sans serif) and colour of font.
  • Image - type of shot (CU, MS, LS, etc) and camera angle.
  • Layout - what goes where on the page and the meaning it creates.

Media Language for video:

  • Camera work - type of shot, camera movement, camera angle.
  • Sound - diegetic and non-diegetic, voice over sound effects.
  • Mise-en-scene - props, setting, lighting, body language (performance), costume, hair and make up.
  • Editing - fast pace editing, slow motion, fast motion.

Above all, you need to consider how these elements create meaning to the audience and how these create the desired representations that your audience will understand.

You need to write these 300 words approximately in a brand new post.

Can you see how the two questions were answered?
What kind of extra information did they give?

I chose brief two which was to create a two minute documentary. My intended audience is middle class and people with mental health issues i intend to use media language by doing the voice over i will stutter in the voice over to give off the impression that i have mental health issues which will relate more to the whole documentary and fit the message. The color in the video will be natural and bright. There is a media stereotype going around saying that autistic people love world of warcraft so i decided to make the documentary proving why it is somewhat true.

There will be head and shoulder shots to show the person and its the normal camera style for a documentary. i intend to make this documentary with a mix of camera movement like someone sitting on a chair playing a game as i go around and move the camera around the person because its what people do in videos about people playing video games. I have hopped on this trend and made the camera go fuzzy to show the brightness and feel of the whole video. I have also added in back round music from the game world of warcraft (the game that the documentary is built around) to reference the game more and every documentary has some sort of music throughout the whole thing.
